The Testament Gin

The Testament Gin is made as a, well – testament to the Danish physician Dr. Henrik Harpestreng (1164 - 1244 AD). Through his treatments of King Eric IV of Denmark, he worked with several different botanical ingredients such as Grana Juniperi (juniper berries), Archangelica (angelica root), Urtica (nettle), and many other elements that we today know from the distillation of Gin. Should the (gin) history books be rewritten? Henrik Hammer, the man behind the incredibly popular Geranium Gin and Frederiksberg Gin, has visited the archives in the royal libraries, and in Dr. Henrik Harpestreng's book 'Liber Herbarum', one can still find his preserved recipes for a distilled alcoholic beverage (elixir/medicine) containing the well-known herbs and berries. Thus, real recipes for something akin to gin dating all the way back to the period 1164 – 1244 AD. The Testament Gin is distilled at the idyllic Vintre Møller, where they also distill their Vintre Møller Vodka Silver Forest. The Testament Gin is produced with green energy from Danish wind turbines, mineral water from Vintre Mølle Kilde itself, and the label is even made from recycled material. An incredibly crisp London Dry Gin type, where the juniper really gets to shine and with fine citrus notes, ending with notes of tea, herbal medicine, and a hint of liquorice. 44% - 70 cl.
