Hampden Estate 8 Year Old Rum
Hampden Estate 8 year Pure Single Jamaican Rum 46% is Hampden's own distillery release, created in collaboration with Velier. For many years, rum from Hampden was only found in various rum releases from independent bottlers who bought casks from the distillery. Hampden Estate has its own sugarcane plantation, and the molasses undergoes a long and unique fermentation process with wild yeast, after which it is exclusively distilled in pot stills. This production method means that Hampden rum is known for its "heavy pot still" Jamaica rum profile with plenty of aroma and esters (flavor compounds). The 8 years of aging all took place "tropically" at Hampden. This Hampden Estate 8 year Pure Single Jamaican Rum at 46% ABV is a great example of what Hampden offers, and although the 46% version is milder than the 60% version, it still packs a significant flavor punch. On the nose, you'll find notes of roasted nuts, tart fruit, and banana, while the taste offers notes of banana, pineapple, and clove, among others. Bottle size: 70 cl.
