Stauning Smoke Whisky of Denmark
Stauning RØG | Smoked Double Malt is - as the name suggests - a smoked whisky from Danish Stauning, and it is based on both malted barley and malted rye. The smoke is on the lighter side.
Barley and rye are sourced from local fields, and the grains are floor-malted at the Stauning distillery, after which they are kiln-dried and smoked with heather and peat. The whisky is double-distilled in 24 small copper pot stills, and it is first aged in American oak barrels and finally in Madeira casks, which add softness, fruity notes, and depth.
Stauning RØG | Smoked Double Malt has an aroma of soft campfire smoke and toasted grain, while the taste offers notes of stone fruit, caramel, fine spices, and light smoke.
