Takamaka Extra Noir Charred Cask Rum is rum from the tropical and beautiful island of Seychelles, where Takamaka Rum produces both rum and liqueur at the Trois Freres Distillery.
Takamaka Rum was founded in 2002 by local brothers, Richard and Bernard d'Offay, who wanted to create a rum that encapsulated the soul of Seychelles. Today, Takamaka is available in more than 35 markets worldwide, and thanks to their innovation and quality, they are growing rapidly and have also won many prestigious awards. In fact, Takamaka's Master Blender, Steven Rioux, was also named Blender of the Year 2024 by The Spirits Business Awards.
Takamaka Extra Noir Charred Cask Rum is a great place to start if you want to venture into "natural rum" where no sweetness has been added. It is a blend of pot and column distilled molasses-based rum, matured on French oak and pressed with both French oak and ex-bourbon casks. Finally, the rum rests in former French sugarcane rum casks for 60 days. Takamaka Extra Noir Charred Cask Rum has a rich taste with notes of vanilla and gentle oak spices from the barrels. Non-chill filtered.
