Teeling Crystal Single Malt Whiskey
Teeling Crystal Single Malt is the latest limited edition whiskey from the Irish Teeling Distillery. As the name "Crystal Malt" reveals, it is made from a very special type of barley. A recipe of distillate malt and Crystal Malt. It has also undergone a double fermentation with distillate yeast and white wine yeast. It is then distilled three times and matured in Teeling's warehouse in Virgin American Oak casks. It is bottled at 46% and without chill-filtration.
Crystal Malt is a type of malted barley traditionally used in brewing. It undergoes a special malting and drying process that results in a partially caramelised or "crystallised" character. The name "crystal" comes from the presence of sugar crystals in the malt grains after the process. It can contribute a wide range of flavours, from light sweet caramel to dark roasted toffee.
The nose offers aromas of green apples and baked pears, with undertones of brown sugar, vanilla and light oak chips. The taste brings a wave of caramel that envelops the palate along with apple pie, spice and fresh pastries, followed by a honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and luxurious, with gentle notes of cinnamon spice and caramel. This is an Irish whiskey with true character. 46% - 70 cl.
