Who was A.H. Riise?

A.H. Riise is named after Albert Heinrich Riise from Ærø, who established and operated the first pharmacy on St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies from 1838-1878. A.H. Riise was also a bit of an entrepreneur, who also distilled rum and bitters in the West Indies. A.H. Riise achieved great success with his rum, which he primarily exported to Denmark. Riise earned several distinguished titles and became a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog and a Knight of the Swedish Order of Vasa. He spent his final days in Frederiksberg, where he is also laid to rest.

Where do A.H. Riise spirit drinks come from?

All A.H. Riise products are blends, distilled and aged in the Caribbean and Central America, and blended and bottled in Flensburg. Many of the releases in the series are, according to the producer, based on a number of A.H. Riise's original rum recipes. A.H. Riise Spirits is 100% Danish-owned and is one of the Nordic region's largest spirits producers, also manufacturing gin, liqueur, and bitters. A.H. Riise has its head office in Dragør.

A.H. Riise's products are what would formerly have been described asextra sweet rumand sweet rum.Due to the high sugar content, A.H. Riise can no longer be called rum, so it is instead referred to as "extra sweet sugar cane-based spirit"or in English, "Superior spirit drink made from premium matured rum."
