It's not just bourbon and rye whiskey that's made in the USA. Occasionally, you can actually find single malt whiskey, and Boulder Bottled in Bond American Single Malt Whiskey is an excellent example of this.
The Boulder Whiskey is produced at Vapor Distillery in Colorado, where the finest barley malt is fermented and distilled. The whiskey is then aged in New American Oak barrels, stored and monitored in a federal warehouse for a minimum of 4 years. Boulder Spirits determined that Boulder Bottled in Bond American Single Malt Whiskey tasted best at 50% ABV, which is what they chose to bottle it at.
The story began in 2011 when Alastair Brogan moved from Scotland to Colorado with his 1,000-gallon Forsyth Still to seek his fortune as a whiskey/whisky producer. As a Scot, Alastair naturally had to show that single malt could also be made in the USA.
