We have met Don Q several times at international rum fairs, and they have so far focused on the American market. This is a bit of a shame as the man behind Don Q, Roberto Serralles, is a very visionary and knowledgeable person. Now, finally, there is more focus on Europe and also a Danish importer. Here you get the Don Q Double Cask Port Finish rum edition, which was first matured in American oak barrels for 5-8 years, and after being blended, it was aged for an additional 3 years in port wine barrels. The rum is fermented from sugarcane molasses and then column distilled. At the distillery, they work with both light and heavy rum distillates, which makes it possible to create a wide palette of different rum types. Don Q falls under the \"Spanish rum style,\" but having said that, they are fundamentally against adding sugar, and therefore the sweetness is also less pronounced in their products.
