Michter's US*1 Small Batch Sour Mash Whiskey

Michter's US*1 Sour Mash is a Sour Mash whiskey, which refers to the way the whiskey is produced. This is done by adding some of the "mash" from the previous fermentation to the next batch – much like baking with sourdough. With its unique grain bill, it cannot be categorized as either rye or bourbon.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Michter's Original Sour Mash was the distillery's most popular product. After disappearing from the market in 1989, the Sour Mash made a triumphant comeback in 2012 with its introduction into the US1 line. Staying true to its predecessor's profile and palate, Michter's US1 Sour Mash has quickly become a favourite among whiskey enthusiasts. The charismatic character and great complexity remain.

On the palate, there are warm toasted notes of burnt sugar with spice, sweet, smoky fruit, candied cherries, and honeyed vanilla. Starts like a bourbon, finishes like a rye.
