Plantation Belize 2008 Vintage Collection Terravera Limited Edition Rum

In January 2024, Plantation Rum announced that they would be changing their name to Planteray Rum, and now we are slowly starting to see the implementation of this name change. Planteray Belize Vintage 2008 Terravera rum is the first Vintage Collection limited edition in Denmark after the name change from Plantation to Planteray. The Planteray Vintage Collection rum series, like the old Plantation rum series, is also from the independent bottler Ferrand in France.

Planteray Belize Vintage Collection Terravera rum was distilled in 2008 at the Travellers distillery in Belize. The rum is based on sugar cane molasses that has fermented for 3-4 days, after which it has been distilled in a column still.

Utilizing Plantation Rum's characteristic double aging technique, the rum has been tropically aged for 13 years at Travellers in Belize, followed by a transatlantic journey to southwestern France and 2 years of aging in French oak barrels that previously contained Ferrand Cognac. To complete the process, they subsequently added 8 grams of sugar per liter, so that it falls under the medium-sweet rum category in our classification.

Planteray Belize 2008 Vintage Collection Terravera Rum has aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, almonds, leather, cocoa, honey, and banana. On the palate, one finds notes of citrus, pear, caramel, coconut, pepper, clove, licorice, and tobacco. The finish is long and intense with dried fruit, cherry, vanilla, coffee, and subtle green notes. 48.3% – 70 cl.
