Botran Aged Rum

Botran Roajú pays homage to the history of the five Botran Merino brothers, who left the Spanish region of Duero to settle in Guatemala. The rum is a blend of rums aged in sherry (Oloroso), port (Tawny), and two different American Whiskey casks. The various rums range in age from 8 to 20 years. The aging process is based on a dynamic Solera method specific to the Botran distillery. Before bottling, the rum undergoes a final aging in casks that previously held a Spanish wine from Burgos, the Botran brothers' home region.

Casa Botran is located in the Quetzaltenango highlands, 2,300 meters above sea level. Here, they age their rum at a cool average temperature of 14˚C. This means that 5% of the rum is lost as the so-called "Angel's share" each year, making it the perfect location for slow, high-altitude aging.

In the early 1900s, the Botran Merino brothers embarked on an eye-opening journey from sunny Spain to splendid Guatemala. In 1940, they founded Botran, a rum with a distinctive character. Since then, they have become one of the world's first sustainable rum brands.

Botran Roajú has a dark copper color and offers an aroma of toasted wood, caramelized notes, black fruits, and prunes with a spicy hint of cinnamon and pepper. On the palate, notes of toffee, black fruits such as prunes and black cherry, along with toasted wood and roasted coffee are discovered. Finally, the toffee notes are accentuated. 40% - 70 cl.
