Old St. Croix XO Haakon Royal Reserve
Old St. Croix (formerly "A.H. Riise") Haakon XO Royal Reserve was launched to celebrate the friendship between King Haakon VII of Norway and Valdemar Riise, who owned A.H. Riise Rum and pharmacy, founded by his father Albert Heinrich Riise in 1838 on the island of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies (now the United States Virgin Islands).
King Haakon VII was originally Prince Carl of Denmark before he was crowned King of Norway in 1905. His parents were King Frederik VIII and Queen Louise of Denmark. Old St. Croix Haakon XO Royal Reserve was intended to be based on the original old rum recipe, which was King Haakon's favorite.
When smelling Old St. Croix XO Haakon Royal Reserve, notes of vanilla, coconut, caramel, and apple pie can be detected. The taste offers notes of vanilla, caramel, and orange peel, among others.

Riise to Old St. Croix. Previously, the products could be classified as rum, but as of May 25, 2021, new EU legislation came into effect, stating that rum must not contain more than 20 grams of sweetening product per liter.
