Rum Nation Rare Rums Jamaica 10 years is distilled in St. Catherine Parish in Jamaica – where there is only one large Single Estate Distillery. Here, sugarcane was harvested in 2013, and the sugarcane molasses was later distilled in Pot Stills.
After this, the rum was aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels. The rum is sweet, spicy, and very complex. Although it is from Jamaica, it is not overwhelmingly characterized by the distinctive Jamaican funk, which is still clearly present in both aroma and taste.
Rum Nation Rare Rums Jamaica 10 years is bottled at a cask strength of 59.9% alcohol.
The aroma is met with fresh – almost green – bananas. Banana cake too! The ester is clear but not heavy. Sweet spice (like Five Spice), with notes of grilled pineapple, star anise, cocoa.
Many of the notes from the aroma also appear in the taste, but here a deep, creamy mouthfeel is added (like cream from a layer cake). Many layers and notes. The ester is present but not overwhelming.
The aftertaste is long-lasting, and here you find notes of dried fruits, spice, esters, and again with a thick creamy mouthful. 59.9% - 70 cl.
