Sustainable Rum 15 Years La Isabela 2008 Rum

The Ron Sostenible 15-year La Isabela 2008 Rare Vintage Collection rum is, at the time of writing, a great addition to the Ron Sostenible rum series, which includes "the regular" Ron Sostenible 8 Years and Ron Sostenible Triple Cask Rum.

The new Ron Sostenible 15-year La Isabela 2008 Rare Vintage Collection rum is based on sugar cane molasses and distilled at La Isabela in the Dominican Republic. The rum has been tropically aged for at least 15 years in bourbon barrels and was then transported to Europe by the sustainable sailing ship, Tres Hombres.

On the palate, one senses nuances of caramel, oak spices, and vanilla. The taste offers notes of vanilla, plums, muscovado sugar, and prominent oak notes from the long, tropical aging.

Ron Sostenible is a sustainable rum series made by A Clean Spirit, which has entrusted the production of Ron Sostenible to extremely skilled hands at a distillery in the Dominican Republic. The distillery has a maximum focus on environmentally friendly green practices. All CO₂ from the fermentation process is collected in pressure vessels used for soft drinks. All organic material and wastewater from the fermentation process are led to the sugar cane fields as organic fertilizer for new sugar cane, and the biomass is used as fuel to distill the alcohol.

The finished rum is transported from the Dominican Republic to Europe by sailing ship - entirely without engine power. The bottles are made from remelted recycled glass and produced in Europe to reduce CO2 emissions.
