The Macallan Classic Cut 2024 Edition single malt whisky is the 8th edition in the Classic Cut whisky series, and this year's edition was crafted by lead whisky maker Steven Bremner.
The Macallan Classic Cut 2024 Edition has a golden barley color, and the whisky reveals an elegant aroma of vanilla, orchards, marzipan, citrus, fresh herbs, and sweet oak. On the palate, it presents sweet, creamy vanilla, milk chocolate, green apples, and oak spices. The whisky's strength of 52.4% primarily highlights the vanilla flavor, but with the addition of 'a splash' of water and a reduction to 40%, a tropical pineapple flavor becomes distinctly prominent. This creates a rich and varied taste experience, culminating in a long and sweet aftertaste.
'A splash' of water in this context should be understood as a mixing ratio of 1:4 (1 part water to 4 parts whisky). Of course, one can also stick to the more common few drops of water, whereby the flavor profile simply shifts from vanilla towards pineapple.
The Macallan Classic Cut 2024 Edition is an expression of Macallan's continuous pursuit of the extraordinary and their deep understanding of the cask's role in whisky development. Macallan has created this release, which perfectly complements the sweet lightness brought by the former bourbon casks with the depth and complexity from Macallan's traditional sherry casks.
